A Boston girl with a wanderer’s heart, my career as an educator spans diverse settings, including international schools, UK higher education, and multicultural American public schools. Key experiences include leading a successful MYP arts department as a drama teacher, integrating arts into STEAM with an education startup, and collaborating with institutions like MIT and Underground Railway Theater to bring playwriting to public school students.

I recently earned a Doctorate of Fine Arts from the University of Glasgow’s Centre for Creative Writing, where my research focuses on using applied theater to co-create performances. As a writer, I’ve been a finalist for literary awards and BBC talent schemes, with productions in Scotland by small theater companies.

At the heart of my practice is a sense of joy and curiosity which guide my commitment to empowering global learners through the arts.

TESTIMONIALS

“I am amazed at her ability to get a read on a class almost instantly, and then figure out how to meet their needs. She established a rapport with every single student in my class. For some of my students who are somewhat shut down or negative …she persisted and got them to open up and take a chance. She has high expectations, but really reaches out and makes taking a risk tempting enough for them to try it out. The drama part of this project is what makes the work really come alive and matter to all the students.”

“Alyssa Osiecki understands how to roll out big ideas in the classroom. She has a keen sense of what will excite students, what will bore students, and how to make boring exciting. She empowers students to verbalize their opinions and beliefs and then through artful scaffolding, moves them from verbalization to synthesis and production.”
